Project Objective
Effectively and authentically communicate the unique characteristics of an animal in the form of a consistent graphic language
Research
To avoid unrealistic representation of the animal, I started with preliminary research and sketch studies about the animal itself in order to understand its behavior and anatomical movement.
Underside View
Top View
Understanding why and how the animal moves led to figuring out the best way to capture the essence of the animal. I began with simple pencil sketches of outlines and graphic shapes before digital refinement.
signifcant refinements
Progressing from left to right, I unify the form of the tail, differentiate the body from the fins, and I sharpened unnecessarily round edges.
Final Mark + Circular Geometry
The final mark includes graphic elements such as the use of a graphic line, closure, and figure-ground reversal.
