Project Objective:
Design a signature for a family member's start-up shop, aiming to sell one of a kind, handmade oddities and knick knacks.
Inspiration
I was asked to include elements of Baroque scrollwork, based upon its ornate details and chaotic nature.
Later in the process, they requested to include sewing crane scissors into the design.
iteration I
This iteration focuses on the natural aspects of Baroque scrollwork, and including a nod to sewing and crafts.
Iteration II
Upon personal review, I realized the first iteration was too dissimilar from the inspiration.
I revised it to have more rounded/circular shapes, as well as to create more space for the text that I would include later.
Final Iteration
After reviewing the second design with them, they had asked to include the crane scissors, so I replaced the bottom details with it, retaining all desired aspects.
Typeface
I used Oculi Display from the JTD type foundry. Its inspiration from Roman scriptural writing and Old Style typefaces gave it a historical quality that compliments the scrollwork inspiration
Deliverables
I included both light and dark versions in order to expand its contextual usage for their website and the color theme they choose to go with.
